Today at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, UVAS-SWAT, a rare and unique Cassowary bird from Swat Zoo Kanju Township Swat was presented for clinical examination after being referred by Dr. Dawood Khan.
The bird was carefully examined, diagnosed, and treated under the supervision of Associate professor Dr. Asghar Khan and Associate professor Dr. Ajab Khan.
Cassowaries are among the world’s largest and most fascinating flightless birds, recognized for their striking appearance, powerful legs, and important role in maintaining forest ecosystems through seed dispersal. Due to their unique anatomy and behavior, handling and medical management of these birds require specialized veterinary expertise and care.
This case highlights the dedication and professional commitment of the faculty and clinical team in providing advanced veterinary care for both domestic and exotic wildlife species.
