The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Swat, under the auspices of its Arts and Culture Society and with the support of the university administration, organized a grand “Pashtun Culture Day” to celebrate and highlight the centuries-old cultural heritage, traditions, language, values, and artistic identity of the Pashtun people.

The ceremony formally commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem. A presentation on the history and cultural background of the Pashtun people was then delivered, highlighting the Pashtun community’s traditions of hospitality, bravery, mutual respect, and rich literary and artistic heritage.
During the event, participants enjoyed an engaging session of Pashto poetry and a traditional Mushaira. Students also presented a thought-provoking cultural drama that beautifully portrayed various aspects of Pashtun life, values, traditions, and society.
Adding further colour and enthusiasm to the event, a Cultural Walk was organized in which participants dressed in traditional Pashtun attire and proudly showcased their cultural identity, creating a vibrant and memorable atmosphere across the university campus.
Various stalls showcasing the rich colours of Pashtun culture were also set up, featuring traditional cuisine, clothing, handicrafts, and other cultural items. Additional Registrar Dr. Khalid Khan, Advisor to the Vice Chancellor Dr. Iqbal Khattak, Public Relations Officer Ikramullah, and other officials accompanied the Vice Chancellor during the visit to the cultural stalls.
Addressing the concluding session, Vice Chancellor UVAS Swat, Prof. Dr. Shakeeb Ullah, appreciated the efforts of the Arts and Culture Society, university administration, faculty members, and students, whose dedication and hard work made the event meaningful and successful.
In his address, the Vice Chancellor stated:
“All the communities living in Pakistan, along with their identities and traditions, are highly valuable to us. The diversity of different communities makes Pakistan like a beautiful bouquet, and we all share the responsibility of protecting this bouquet while working for the development, prosperity, and well-being of our country. The university administration will continue to support and encourage such curricular and co-curricular activities.”
