The Outdoor Veterinary Teaching Hospital, UVAS Swat, successfully managed a challenging case of dystocia in a *Hock Deer* from Swat Zoo Presented by Dr. Daoud ( Veterinary Officer). The animal was presented with a history of prolonged labor and failure to deliver the fetus since the previous day.
Upon clinical examination, the fetus was found to be dead and lodged within the birth canal, posing a serious threat to the life and welfare of the dam. The case was attended by *Dr. Muhammad Tayyab Khan, Assistant Professor of Theriogenology* , with the assistance of *Dr. Ray Adil Quddus and Dr. Asfand Yar Khan.*
Using specialized obstetrical techniques, the veterinary team successfully removed the dead fetus and relieved the dystocia, thereby saving the dam. Following the procedure, the animal was provided with appropriate post-operative care, including antibiotic coverage, fluid therapy, and supportive treatment to ensure recovery.
The case also served as a valuable hands-on learning opportunity for Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) students, who were trained in the diagnosis and management of dystocia and obstetrical interventions under field conditions.

*Prof. Dr. Obaid Ullah* , In-charge Faculty Veterinary Services (FVS), and *Dr. Asghar Khan* , Head of the Department of Clinical Sciences, appreciated the timely intervention and professional efforts of the veterinary team. They highlighted the importance of UVAS Swat’s clinical and community outreach services in safeguarding animal health, promoting wildlife welfare, and providing practical training to future veterinarians.
This successful intervention reflects UVAS Swat’s commitment to excellence in veterinary healthcare, wildlife conservation, and experiential learning through its teaching hospitals and community veterinary services.
